Fairfax County’s project, Plan Forward, continues its work to update policies that guide how land is developed. Several Community Meetings, in person and virtual, are scheduled for February 2025.

All members of the public are invited to attend to hear the latest project updates and Planning Staff’s research findings to date. Community conversations and comments will be used alongside the community feedback already received to inform County Staff’s recommendations for Land Use Policy changes.

We highly encourage all residents who are interested in Plan Forward and the Policy Plan to save the date and attend one of the upcoming meetings.

What’s It About?

Fairfax County launched community outreach for Plan Forward in 2024 as a comprehensive initiative to update its 1990 Policy Plan that guides land use and development decisions.

Topics include:

• expanding economic opportunities,
• providing access to public facilities and convenient modes of transportation,
• and creating a pleasing and sustainable environment to live.

Anticipated to conclude by the end of 2025, Plan Forward brings an important opportunity to ensure updated Comprehensive Plan policies enhance the quality of life for our residents.
